Editorial Policy

How pages are written, updated and corrected -- and what we will never publish.

Last updated

Bed & Bounty is published by Janet Media Group and written by Janet H., who is accountable for everything on it. This page sets out how pages are produced, maintained and corrected.

Who writes and who is accountable

Every article, roundup and review on this site is written by Janet H., the hands-on owner behind Janet Media Group. There is no second author, no anonymous editorial team, and no invented reviewer or fact-checker. Where a page carries a byline, that byline names a real person who can be contacted.

We do not claim credentials that have not been established. No degree, no certification, no tenure figure, and no claim of hands-on product testing appears anywhere on this site, because none of those has been established. How we choose sets out what our method actually is.

How pages are updated

  • Every page carries a visible published date and, where it differs, a last-updated date. Those dates are real. We do not refresh a date to make a page look current.
  • Product pages are reviewed ahead of their season, not during it -- raised beds and soil in January, greenhouses in February, composting in May, seed starting in December.
  • A product that is discontinued is removed or replaced, not left on the page with a dead link.
  • Specification changes are corrected when we find them or when a reader reports them.

Corrections

If something on this site is wrong, tell us at janet.hoyo@yahoo.com or through the contact form. We will check it against the source, correct the page, and update the last-updated date so it is visible that the page changed.

Substantive corrections -- a factual claim that was wrong, not a typo -- are noted on the page itself rather than made silently.

Sourcing

Factual claims about materials, plant biology, temperature, timing or safety are sourced to university cooperative extension publications or published government guidance, and linked inline or in a Sources block at the foot of the page.

Product specifications are the manufacturers' own published figures, described as such. We never cite a competitor's roundup as evidence for a product claim.

How affiliate relationships affect content

They do not affect rankings, and there is a structural reason why: every product on this site is linked through the same Amazon Associates tag, so we earn on the same terms whichever one you buy. There is no product we make meaningfully more from and therefore no financial incentive to rank one above another.

Where the cheaper option is the better buy, the page says so. Where a reader should not buy anything at all -- because a cold frame would do the job of a greenhouse, or because their existing soil is fine and they do not need a bed -- the page says that too.

Full details are on the affiliate disclosure page, and every commercial page carries a disclosure above its first affiliate link.

What we never publish

  • Fabricated reviews, testimonials, quotes or ratings of any kind.
  • Prices we have not verified, or star ratings and review counts we have not checked.
  • Claims of hands-on testing, ownership or first-hand use of products we have not used.
  • Sponsored content presented as editorial. If anything on this site is ever paid placement, it will be labeled as such.
  • AI-generated product claims that have not been checked against a published source.
