Bed & Bounty is an independent editorial site published by Janet Media Group
and written by Janet H. It exists to answer one question for a beginner: what
do I buy first, and in what order?

The answer the site is built around is a five-step sequence:

1. Raised bed - the container, which decides depth, soil volume and crop range
2. Soil and fill - the part that actually grows food, and the larger bill
3. Seed starting - cheaper than transplants, with far more variety
4. Composting - the bed settles every year and wants topping up, forever
5. Greenhouse or cold frame - extends the season at both ends
